Mercy Karanja is the Founder and CEO of Sturdy Medical, a mission-driven, clinician-founded healthcare staffing company focused on strengthening the healthcare workforce through quality, dependability, and excellence. With 27 years in healthcare, including 24 years as a registered nurse, Mercy brings rare, firsthand insight into the realities clinicians face and the standards facilities require.
Rising through the ranks into clinical leadership, Mercy’s experience spans long-term care, acute care, and community settings. A visionary, collaborative leader, Mercy has led multiple teams to achieve Joint Commission accreditation and is known for building high-performing, quality-driven care teams.
A graduate of Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts, Mercy founded Sturdy Medical after witnessing critical staffing gaps during the COVID-19 pandemic—building a staffing model that truly serves clinicians and the patients who depend on them. Outside of work, Mercy loves spending time with her family, grounding her mission in both care and connection.
